Gone Clamming

I developed this image for my solo show at The Southern Vermont Arts Center for the fall of 2022. My late mother collected seashells and this giant clam is part of her collection. The background was the biggest challenge for me. I needed some water to simulate the shoreline — a wave I had from the wake of the ferry taking me to Monhegan Island in Maine was very helpful. I also had a shot from Vermont of snowy cliffs, and I thought the whiteness of the snow looked like water. If you look closely you might see them.
